Who is behind Panama Informations Website?

My name is François Painchaud, I divide my time between learning and working on new Internet projects, mainly SEO, and traveling, specially across Latin America.

I have seen people raising an eyebrow at the incongruity of my areas of interest. You don’t usually associate information technology people with a lot of travel, do you?

Well, this is how I came to be hooked to travel throughout Latin America.

When the Internet revolution shook up the world big time in the early 1990s, I was a rookie IT professional. In 1998 I was finding my way through the exciting world of network management on Linux server environment when I found the temptation to strike out on my own company too hard to resist.

I quit my job, set up my own company, and started offering Internet strategies to small and medium Canadian enterprises. It was raining opportunities in those days, and I grabbed them with both hands. We diversified into website implementation, data hosting, software development and providing a vast array of software solutions – from CRMs to integrated management software solutions. More than 400 projects were successfully delivered.

One day in 2007 I took a step that was to transform my old way of life forever. I traveled to Latin America (Panama) and immediately fell in love with it. So much, that I proceeded to sell my company, and now I've been living in and traveling across various Latin American countries for well over a year, soaking up the ambiance and researching the way of life so typical of these countries.

In this website, I have tried to share as much as possible my varied experiences of life in Panama.
