The great Panama Canal, a beautiful journey!

When it comes to historical sites, the Panama Canal is one of the most infamous in the world. People have immigrated to America via the isthmus of Panama since 8,000 BC. Throughout history many leaders have wanted a sea level isthmus crossing to be built. A project was begun for building of a canal in 1880, but disease and pestulence ended the project after seven years.

Panama History

The country of Panama is the third largest country in Central America. Its prime location that has long been treasured by colonizers has contributed to the rich history of Panama.
